Local Governing Body
At Etonbury Academy we are part of the Bedfordshire School Trust (BEST). Ultimate responsibility for running the Trust rests with the BEST Board of Directors, but each academy has its own Local Governing Body.
Being a School Governor
Key roles of the Etonbury Academy Governing Body include: ensuring clarity of vision and the academy's ethos; supporting the Principal and holding him to account for the educational performance of the academy and its students; setting standards for students' behaviour and discipline; communicating with the community, and much more.
The role of the school governor is quite demanding, but very rewarding and is a good way to give back to your local community. Governors come from all walks of life. In fact, it is healthy to have a range of different skills on the Governing Body. What's really important is that you have the energy, enthusiasm, time and real desire to help provide children with the best possible education.
If you would like further information about becoming a Governor, please drop me a line, including a few words about yourself and address it to the school office. I look forward to hearing from you.
