The purpose of Homework

• To encourage pupils to develop the skills, confidence and motivation needed to study effectively on their own.  This is vital, given the importance in the future, of lifelong learning and adaptability in the workplace.
• To extend school learning, for example through additional reading.
• To consolidate, practise and reinforce skills and understanding developed at school.
• To sustain the involvement of parents and carers in the management of pupils' learning and keeping them informed about the work pupils are doing.
• To manage particular demands, such as GCSE/A-Level coursework.

We also expect all pupils to read regularly and would expect them to read for 20-30 minutes each evening.
